Patrick Van den Eede is a classically trained opera
singer who began his musical education at a young
age with professors from the Conservatory of Bruges
in Belgium. He later refined his craft with renowned
masters worldwide, notably at the Guildhall School of
Music and Drama in London under William McAlpine,
as well as with Edoardo Aquez, Gérard Serkoyan of
the Paris Opera, and for three years with the legendary
tenor Nicolai Gedda in Stockholm. In 2000, forced to
end his artistic career due to health reasons, he
redirected his energy towards new ventures,
particularly public speaking, where he coached
members of the European community and business
leaders.
At the same time, he became Artistic Director of
L’Âme de l’Europe, an initiative founded by Jacques
Santer, former President of the European Commission,
which annually commemorates the signing of the
Treaty of Rome at the Palais des Beaux-Arts, bringing
together dignitaries and European thinkers to reflect
on the continent’s unity. Since 2021, Patrick Van den
Eede has served as its President.
Convinced that a single annual celebration is not
enough to address Europe’s growing social
challenges, he expanded the organization’s mission
by launching a humanitarian initiative: The Dream of
Hippocrates. This ambitious project aims to
establish medical dispensaries in several European
cities, responding to the urgent needs of nearly 20%
of the European population who lack reliable
access to basic healthcare, adequate heating, or the
means to live with dignity. Despite setbacks caused
by the health crisis, his commitment remains
steadfast. Invited by Renato Freire, President of
Jethro – Civil Diplomacy, he became Benelux
Coordinator and later Director for the entire
European continent.
A passionate communicator, Patrick Van den Eede
modestly describes himself as a conductor for a
good cause, using his talents and network to
promote solidarity, dignity, and social justice
throughout Europe.

A meaningful encounter between Mr. Patrick Van den
Eede, President of L’Âme de l’Europe, and Ms. Janini
Rangel, Global Head of Civil Diplomacy. Together, they
embody a human-centered and united vision of modern
diplomacy rooted in listening, cooperation, and
solidarity in service of the common good.
...
We live in times when the challenges we face know
no borders. Whether environmental, economic,
social, or political, these complex and intertwined
issues require global, bold, and above all deeply
human responses. It is in this context that Jethro Civil
Diplomacy becomes essential.
This approach goes far beyond traditional diplomacy.
It places the individual at its core. Becoming a Jethro
Civil Diplomat means not being a passive actor in
international relations but a catalyst for impact, a
driver of transformation, supported by a global
community of committed leaders heads of state,
judges, doctors, researchers, industrialists sharing a
common ambition: to grow the individual so they
may, in turn, help others grow.
What sets Jethro Civil Diplomacy apart is its deeply
selfless and human vision. This is not about personal
power or recognition. Ego has no place here. A true
civil diplomat acts with humility, awareness, and
responsibility, understanding that their influence
comes not from domination but from sincere,
generous, and empathetic service to others.
This approach redefines leadership today. Rather
than imposing one’s will, a Jethro civil diplomat seeks
to listen, understand, and build together. One might
think of them as modern-day chaplains men and
women on the ground quietly yet powerfully working
for the common good. They weave the invisible
threads of peace, social cohesion, and sustainable
development. Their strength lies in genuine
commitment, faith in others, and the ability to
mobilize skills, networks, and above all, their hearts
...
Now more than ever, the world needs this model. In a
context marked by conflicts, mistrust, and inequality,
Jethro Civil Diplomacy offers a demanding yet
hopeful path: one of renewed humanism, real
solidarity, and deep collective engagement.
This is not naïve idealism but the recognition that true
change begins with the growth of each individual. By
growing in awareness and alignment, every person
can become a lever for lasting transformation in their
community, country, and beyond. It is these engaged
human networks that will make the difference in
facing the immense challenges of our time.
In essence, Jethro Civil Diplomacy embodies a
modern, inspiring, and profoundly human response to
today’s complexity. It invites each of us to step out of
the shadow of ego and embrace a collective mission:
to elevate humanity as a whole by making diplomacy
not a game of power, but an act of service, listening,
and shared creation.
I firmly believe that it is in this alchemy between
personal commitment and collective vision that the
future of diplomacy truly lies one that serves peace
and human progress.
To you reading these words, I extend this invitation:
join us on this journey. Become, at your own level, an
actor in this new diplomacy, and together let us build
a fairer, more united, and enlightened world.
